Since starting my apprenticeship with National Tyres, I have been welcomed into the company and I have been taught a wide range of skills. My trainers and managers are very friendly and always help me out if I have a problem.
I really enjoy the training courses at Gloucester training centre with the other apprentices in the area. My trainers are really helpful and easy to get along with, and are very knowledgeable in what they teach. Since starting in July, I have learned about tyre fitting and puncture repair, alignment, batteries and oil filters.
Thanks to the advice and knowledge of the staff I work with, I'm now confident in what I do, and I'm always eager to learn new skills. My team keep me well motivated and I am really enjoying my time with the company.

When I started with national tyres I had no knowledge of car repair work but I was enthusiastic. I wasn't sure what to expect next but the first course in Liverpool Training Centre was really great.
I and five other new starters went through the induction and we were told how our apprentice scheme would work. During the first week we worked on cars and I was very pleased to be able to go to my centre in Bradford and be able to change and repair tyres, removing them and refitting them to customers cars using all the correct equipment.
My manager was very helpful and I soon fitted in at the centre. Since the first course I have completed other courses and learnt other skills doing wheel alignments, shock absorbers, brakes and exhausts as well as working through my portfolio and doing online tests.
I would like to go as far as I can with National Tyres and become a Manager in the future.

When I first started with National Tyres and Autocare I was quite nervous and didn't know what to expect, but I was soon made welcome by all the staff.
On my first week I went on an induction course at Gloucester Training Centre with five other apprentices. We had to stay in a hotel for five days. The induction course welcomed us to the company and we were taught the basics of tyre fitting.
When we were on the induction course we were given our Portfolio, which we would have to complete throughout our apprenticeship.
Since my induction, I have been on many courses and have been improving. I also feel I can do more within my branch.
Since working in the branch, I now feel I am a competent tyre fitter, I can also carry out wheel alignment and puncture repairs, without supervision. My next challenge will be fault diagnostics and fitting of brake parts. All my work colleagues have helped me in my apprenticeship and continue to do so everyday. I really enjoy working for NTA and look forward to a long and rewarding career.
